
Andy Patterson has almost 25 years’ experience teaching biomedicine and science across a wide range of educational settings. He qualified as a Biology teacher at the University of Manchester and holds an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management, alongside advanced qualifications in Inclusive Learning Experience Design. He is currently completing a NASEN-recognised Teacher of SEND qualification.
Andy holds an Ofqual-regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma and has extensive experience teaching science, maths and English at school level. He maintains up-to-date safeguarding training and professional development requirements and is fully DBS checked and certified.
He is Principal and Lead Lecturer at the Hippocratic Institute, a professionally accredited natural health college, and is an IANHP-registered Doctor of Naturopathy. He also completed a career advancement programme in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) techniques for teachers with the London School of International Management.
Andy’s professional work is grounded in the belief that health, wellbeing, and education are inseparable within SEND contexts, and that functional, emotional, and nervous system regulation can be developed through strong educational and therapeutic relationships. He is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate at the University of Derby, exploring how the therapeutic relationship underpins learning, regulation, and change across both educational and health settings.

Daniela Patterson has been a qualified Occupational Therapist since 2013, specialising in drug rehabilitation and geriatric care. She is also a qualified herbal therapy teacher (Kräuterpädagogik) and teaches her own Nature Therapy programme to children at Junior Uni in Daun, Germany. She holds a Jungendleiter card, a recognised German qualification for youth group education and instruction.
Daniela is an official heritage tour guide (Gästeführer) for the Eifel region, where she works extensively with outdoor education, walking programmes, and nature-based learning. She is also the creator of the popular Heimathaben blog, which translates as “We have a home,” and reflects her commitment to place-based identity, wellbeing, and connection to nature.
Alongside her occupational therapy and teaching work, Daniela holds diplomas in social media management, graphic design, content creation, and digital media production, with extensive professional experience in digital marketing. Her combined clinical, educational, creative, and digital expertise makes an essential contribution to the development and delivery of Optimal Learning.
